Easter Sunday
Easter Sunday was a fantastic celebration of Jesus’ resurrection. We had creative and reflective activities during breakfast and then a high-stakes game of ‘Dash, Smash and Cash’ where Si beat the odds to win the jackpot without getting a egg smashed on his head!
Dave spoke on the Parable of the Hidden Treasure, thinking about how Easter underlines the joy God feels for us'; so much so he would pay the ultimate price. We also had the newest costumed crusaders from youth help with the kids’ egg hunt
Try Praying
You may have noticed the bus adverts for Try Praying. This is a local campaign that has been organised by churches in Exeter, including Exeter Vineyard.
Try Praying is a wonderful initiative that encourages people to reach out to God and see what happens. There are numerous stories about how this idea has helped people, including our very own Shaun, who picked up a Try Praying leaflet one day and gave it a go.
There are lots of city wide connections between the churches, including monthly leaders’ prayer meetings, conferences, retreats, events and initiatives, such as this Try Praying campaign.
Vineyard Youth Worship School
During the Easter school holidays Mim and Tilly went to the Vineyard Youth Worship School, held at Winchester Vineyard. There were 45 teenage musicians gathered for the 3-day school to learn about musical worship. As part of the course they even ventured into central Winchester to perform as a gospel choir for passing shoppers! Mim and Tilly both had a great time.
CHILDREN AT EVC
We’re so excited to be a multigenerational church where children are members of our church family in their own right. This means we take safeguarding really seriously and want children (and vulnerable adults) to be safe.
With this in mind we want to remind parents and carers that children are your responsibility until they are signed into their group.
Practically, this means children in Primary School or younger should be accompanied by a responsible adult from the main hall when they go to sign into their group (it can be you or you can ask another parent or carer to take them) and when they are collected.
Once checked in, children need to stay in the group unless collected by a parent or carer or are returned to the main hall by a helper.
The doors to the school are always unlocked during our service, so it’s possible someone could enter the school and, as such, we don’t want unaccompanied children wandering the school corridors or grounds.
