What We Do
Our Aim is Discipleship
We believe Jesus’ purpose for the church was to be a family where people are helped to take on the family likeness. Jesus called this ‘being a disciple’.
This is something we are taking seriously; thinking about how we can shape Exeter Vineyard’s priorities, culture and activities towards discipleship.
You can find out more about how we understand what discipleship means here.
Our Core Activities
Sunday Service
On the first and third Sunday of the month we gather together as a whole church family.
These times are about community, celebration, focusing on God and learning from the Bible. There are activities for young people.
You can find out what to expect at our Sunday Service here.
Hubs
Hubs are smaller groups - typically 5 to 25 people - that we think of as church over a meal. These are relaxed communities built around closer relationships, where people have more opportunity to contribute their experiences, thoughts, ideas and skills.
Hubs are places to be known in a community that helps each other in tough times. Hubs will think about the Bible together, especially the specific impact God might be having in people’s lives. Hubs are often multi-generational.
You can see our current Hubs here.
Discipleship Groups
These are smaller groups of 3 to 5 people who meet regularly using the Bible to ask the two ‘Discipleship Questions’: What is God saying to me? And, What am I going to do about it?
These groups are an intentional and pro-active step to respond to Jesus’ invitation to ‘Follow Me’ and step out of a life lived on default.
You can find out more about Discipleship Groups, how to start one and the CABDAQ model here.
Young People
We have activities for children, teenagers and families where we want to build community and help young people learn what it might mean to follow Jesus.
You can see our specific activities here.
Compassion Ministries
We have a number of teams that work to help and support others.
The Crosslines team provides a weekly hot meal for the homeless and vulnerably housed community.
The Refugee House team work with two other local churches in the Government's refugee resettlement scheme, so far helping two Syrian families move from refugee camps to start a new life in Exeter.
We champion the work of Home For Good, helping to support and encourage people considering or engaged in fostering and adoption.
Finally, we partner with Exeter Foodbank to support their important local work
