JANUARY NEWS
REPORTS
We had a very busy December. Here’s a catch up:
Crossline Christmas Meal
Every Monday night the Crossline team serve a warm meal to homeless and vulnerably housed people from a small kitchen in central Exeter.
However, at Christmas for a number of years now, they do something extra special: an indoor 3-course dinner with table service, a menu with a choice of dishes, decorations, crackers and live music.
On Monday 9th December they served over 50 people. There was a joyous atmosphere and no one was in a hurry to leave. Being served, having a choice and being in a venue specially prepared for your enjoyment is a dignity hard to come by if you find yourself in a really tough time, so it was a great way for the Vineyard team to bless all those who came.
Christmas Services
We had two Christmas services in the lead up to the big day. A more raucous service with a kids party and games and the next week a more reverent Carol Service. It was great to take the time to centre our preparations for Christmas around the joy and wonder of that first Christmas and the unfolding of God’s amazing plan.
JANUARY’S FOCUS:
Reflecting on 2024
Time is just a construct and all that, but as we arrive in January it’s as good a time as any to reflect on the year that’s ended.
We think it’s a great practice for us to look back across the year and think about what God has done. If we all do this together in the same format it will also allow us to think about how well Exeter Vineyard is helping and encouraging us in our faith.
We’re asking members of the Exeter Vineyard Church Family to prayerfully think back over the last year and consider how God has been changing them. We’re asking six questions based on the five securities we use to consider our discipleship journey and there are also opportunities to give more detail if you want.
LOOKING AHEAD
February - A Month of Prayer
We’re calling the church to a focused and concentrated month of prayer through February. It’s a chance to pray together for God’s guidance, blessing, help and fruitfulness in the year ahead.
We’ll have a daily plan, with the opportunity to sign up for text prompts. We’re also planning a weekly online prayer meeting and possibly some in-person prayer meetings across the month.
More details will follow on our News Page and in the Sunday Service during January.
