FEBRUARY NEWS
REPORTS
EVC Messy Church Is 3!
An advantage of writing February’s News a bit late is we can feature the third birthday of Messy Church - which hit 3 years on Saturday 8th February!
Messy Church is a national initiative to express church with creativity, family, fun and food at its heart. We started Messy Church to offer something for families and young people in our church, but always with the aim to welcome people from outside the Exeter Vineyard church family.
If you’ve never been there are four craft stations to make things that (sometimes somewhat tenuously) connect to a Bible story. We then have a short, interactive talk about the Bible story and finish with lunch together.
The team who put this on (Sarah, Rachel, Sarah, Emma, Julie, Dave and sometimes Deborah, Jane and Tilly) work really hard to make every Messy Church interesting and engaging for all ages.
One of the wonderful successes of Messy Church is how we’ve been able to welcome and build friendships with people who have no other connection to Exeter Vineyard. Sometimes we’re amazed at how people find out about it and turn up out of the blue. There’s a lot of word of mouth recommendations going on, which is a great sign of how much people do enjoy our Messy Church
FEBRUARY’S FOCUS:
A Month of Prayer
We are spending February with a concentrated month of prayer. You can find out details here (including signing up for a weekday reminder text message).
Week one is a week of devotion and praise. Week two we’re praying for Exeter Vineyard. Week three for our city and local area. Week four for the world.
We are also having online prayer meetings on Sunday at (new time) of 5pm on Zoom. Contact the office for log-on details (or message Dave directly if you have his number.)
LOOKING AHEAD
March - Church Feedback
We are planning for the service on Sunday 16th March to be a time to feedback on where we think Exeter Vineyard Church is at and what we think is ahead. We’ll look at the insights from the 2024 Survey (including responses to suggestions and issues people have raised) and from the previous year’s finance.
We think this will be an important Sunday and it would be great if you can be there. We’re planning to video the talk to allow people who can’t make it to see it on our YouTube channel.
