Whole Life
The news and talk for Sunday 27th September. This week Dave talks about how our whole life is made for God’s presence and involvement. We might agree with our head, but here’s the test: do we P.R.A.Y. for all areas of our life?
P.R.A.Y. is an acronym used by 24/7 prayer that stands for Pause, Rejoice (or Reflect), Ask and Yield. We can use this to think, do we pause to acknowledge God’s presence in a certain area of our life, do we rejoice and feel thankful to him for the good things in that area, do we ask him for help in that area, and are we willing to yield control, so we do what he says?
Interestingly, when we hit a hard time in part of our life, we often want God involved, but it’s really easy to only do the ‘Ask’ bit and none of the others.
If we want to be deliberate about choosing to involve God in a particular area, we can start to P.R.A.Y. for that area.
Discussion Starter Questions:
- What areas of our lives do we tend to find we naturally include God? What areas of our lives do we tend to forget to include God?
- Often, the aim of the world is to be self-sufficient. What is good and what is unhelpful about this? What is a better way to explain the aim for Christians?
- Why might it be good to include God even in things that we can do easily on our own?
- What do you feel God is saying to you about this and what is one thing might you try to this week to take a step towards it?
