This week, Adam thinks about how to live the sort of life Jesus modelled for us. He explores what Jesus meant when he said, this:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30 (New International Version)
“Are you weary, carrying a heavy burden? Come to me. I will refresh your life, for I am your oasis. Simply join your life with mine. Learn my ways and you’ll discover that I’m gentle, humble, easy to please. You will find refreshment and rest in me. For all that I require of you will be pleasant and easy to bear.” – Matthew 11:28-30 (The Passion Translation)
Discussion Questions:
- Where do you already have rhythms in your life that are working? Ones that add to your life and feel like they fit naturally into your daily or weekly life. An example would be cleaning your teeth – it’s good for you and it probably feels no effort to do or remember. What other rhythms and practices like this do you have?
- What can you learn from these normal life practices that could help you integrate spiritual rhythms? They don’t need to be profound or feel spiritual. It’s finding ways to push into God and include him in your everyday life that can start to feel natural and helpful.
- Adam talked about making time and space for God. What could you lay down to make space to find a new rhythm for a spiritual practice?
- What thing will you try this week that people can ask how you got on next week?
